Work In Progress - Where I am Today



You may not know about my weight struggles but suffice it to say that the past few years have been a rollercoaster! I lost a lot of weight and was feeling pretty confident. Then, in 2014, I began an almost year-long period of constant stress and spiraled into a deep depression. Taking care of myself took a backseat and I basically undid all my progress. When that period ended, I was totally out of my healthy habits and was struggling with feeling like a failure and not believing I could make up for lost time. 

Also during all of that, I had been struggling with health issues that plagued me since late 2010. Years of exams, tests, and procedures continually indicated that everything was normal and I was fine, but I was so not. Numerous changes to my diet helped with some things, but it didn't solve the problems. With all other options exhausted, I had a hysterectomy in 2015. Let me tell you, few things mess with your weight like menopause. 




Since then, I have been back and forth with different eating plans, not able to settle on anything. Thank goodness for Juice Plus and the nutrients it provided, even during my off days... or weeks. But supplements alone - no matter how amazing - can’t make up for poor habits. 


Last spring I left my great job to pursue my coaching business full time and I knew I’d get my sh...stuff together and be skinny and happy with a thriving business before the holidays. Unfortunately, I continued to struggle with my own nutrition and fitness plan. I could design them for clients, but for myself, it wasn’t so easy. I fluctuated between various diet models, not convinced that any of them were completely effective for everyone (as they often promised) without modification. What ended up happening was that I often combined aspects of different diets that didn’t actually work together. I was my own guinea pig and found quite a few plans that didn't work. While that's it's own kind of success, I didn't feel like I was making progress - personally or professionally. All I could think about was achieving awesome results to advertise that I was a master of wellness who everyone should hire. 




Enter keto. I hated it. SO MANY friends were on the bandwagon and I just knew it was a fad, a band aid, a quick fix. It would surely fizzle like Atkins or Whole30 did when people went back to eating normal again. Then I found plant-heavy keto and started having the same success as my traditional keto friends. I got to skip the keto flu, possibly thanks to the veggies and my Juice Plus capsules. 

So here I am, two months into this new eating plan. Between Juice Plus and plant-heavy keto I'm experiencing these benefits:

  • Improved Mental Clarity & Focus
  • Almost No Sweet Cravings
  • Fewer Mood Swings

I feel like I'm finally heading in the right direction! With the support of family and friends, I'm sticking to my program and loving it! I'm seeing changes in the number on the scale, how my clothes fit, and even in my face when I look at older pictures. It may be a while before I see big changes in the mirror, but that's pretty common whether you're actually slimming/toning/etc. or just progressing slowly. I'm ok with that as long as I continue to feel great!
